Empowering Patients. Enabling Discovery. Ensuring Stability with remote blood sampling.
Whether you’re running a decentralised clinical trial or a hybrid study, the Avenna Precision Blood Collection Kit brings laboratory-grade blood collection directly to participants’ homes. This is without compromising on sample integrity, compliance, or data quality.
Remote Blood Sampling adapted for Precision Medicine Studies
Our kit is a finger-prick-based remote sampling solution that can be used in any study requiring remote blood collection.
It is particularly suited for complex decentralised trials, precision medicine research, and sophisticated multiomic analyses.
Designed to enable reliable capillary blood sampling for both research and clinical use, it supports advanced biomarker studies where stability, ease of use, and data integrity are essential.
The kit includes:
- A Mitra® microsampling device for volumetric blood collection
- Easy-to-use lancet with Comfort Zone Technology®
- Alcohol swabs, plasters & instructions
- Designed for capillary blood collection (20, & 30 microlitres tips) Up to 4 tips per Device
- Pre-paid return envelope and compliant shipping materials (UN3373)
- NFC-enabled patient interface for registration, video instructions, and sample tracking
Why use it?
Remote sampling solves multiple challenges — but only if done right. Avenna’s kit was engineered to address:
- Dropout risk due to confusing or inconvenient sampling
- Degraded samples caused by poor handling or transport delays
- Fragmented digital data and participant oversight
- An interactive experience through NFC-enabled guidance
- Sample stability with dried blood microsampling
- compliance and patient centricity with your study

Frequently Asked questions
What is the Avenna Precision Blood Collection Kit used for?
It enables remote capillary blood sampling for research and clinical trials. It is particularly suited for decentralised studies, precision medicine research, and multiomic analyses.
What types of analysis can be performed using the samples?
The kit is compatible with a wide range of omics applications, including:
Genomics & Transcriptomics (e.g., sequencing, expression profiling)
Proteomics & Metabolomics (e.g., LC-MS/MS platforms)
Glycomics & Glycoproteomics
Clinical chemistry, immune profiling and serological testing
- And more
How is sample integrity maintained during transit?
The dried blood sample is stabilised on a volumetric microsampling device (Mitra®), placed with a desiccant into a sealed bag, and posted in UN3373-compliant packaging — no refrigeration required.
How much blood is needed?
Just two drops. The Mitra® device collects between 10–30 µL of capillary blood per tip, enough for robust multiomic testing.
Each device can have 2 or 4 tips, depending on the type.
Is the kit regulated?
Yes.
The kit is classified and registered as a procedure pack under UK medical device regulations.
All components are CE-marked and used according to their intended purpose.
The full kit is assembled in an ISO 13485-certified facility in the UK.
The external and internal kit design is protected under UK Registered Design No: 6435299.
Can the kit integrate with our study data platform?
Absolutely. The embedded NFC tag can link to your registration platform, display instructions, track kit usage, and export patient/sample data into your trial systems.
